Bitcoin Whitepaper Published
Cause
In 2008, the global financial crisis triggered by the U.S. subprime mortgage meltdown swept the world. Lehman Brothers collapsed, and governments were forced to use taxpayer money for massive bailouts. The fragility of the traditional central banking system and fiat currencies was fully exposed, leading to a complete collapse of public trust.
Against this backdrop, the Cypherpunk community's long-sought vision for a trustless electronic cash system found the perfect catalyst.
Process
On October 31, 2008, a pseudonymous individual or group named Satoshi Nakamoto published a whitepaper titled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" to a cryptography mailing list. This paper innovatively combined blockchain technology, the Proof of Work (PoW) consensus mechanism, and asymmetric cryptography to solve the "double-spending" problem of digital cash.
On January 3, 2009, Nakamoto mined the genesis block of Bitcoin on a small server, embedding a headline from that day's edition of The Times: "Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks"—a clear jab at the traditional financial system.
Result
Bitcoin thus began its legendary journey from a worthless geek experiment to the world's most influential digital asset. From a price of essentially zero, to a few cents, to eventually tens of thousands of dollars per coin, Bitcoin birthed a multi-trillion-dollar cryptocurrency industry. It became the highest-returning investment asset in human history.
🚀 Time Traveler's Playbook (How to Exploit This)
- 🎯 Target Acquisition: Early Bitcoin mining in 2009.
- 🛠️ Core Operation: Download the early Bitcoin client on your standard Windows PC. Leave your computer running 24/7 to mine blocks. Because network difficulty is practically zero, you can easily mine thousands of Bitcoins a week using just a standard CPU.
- 💰 Profit & Extraction: BACK UP YOUR WALLET.DAT FILE. Store multiple copies on USB drives, CDs, and offline hard drives. Do not sell for $10 in 2011. Hold until the 2017 bull run ($20,000) or the 2021 bull run ($60,000+).
